There were so many chuds trying to rewrite Yasuke's Wikipedia page by white people pretending to be Japanese, using Google Translate, that it had to be put on lockdown.
It's kind of a shame. I'd love to play a game with Yasuke but it's Ubisoft and I don't want to give them money.

So that Avatar trailer
The main character is basically an analog for Indigenous children forced into boarding schools, right? Is the pitch as cringey as I, a mostly-clueless white person, think it is? Because the whole thing reads to me like a staggeringly tone-deaf white person's idea of what a stolen Indigenous child reclaiming their identity might look like. And, like, I don't know what that would look like, but I'm pretty sure it's not... that.
I like the world of Avatar! It is very very pretty! I wish the people writing in it would quit being so embarrassingly white.
edit: not gonna buy it just because I'd never get around to playing it, never mind all the other reasons (f*ck Ubisoft).

as a white dude with a decent knowledge of the factual history, it is exactly as cringey as you expect as written by white people with a semifactual history and no cultural understanding

I mean, of you've got a hankerin' for Zelda CDi (and I'm not sure why you would be here we are) then you should check out Arzette. It's a love letter to the that style of game keeping the unhinged character dialogue animation but ditching the dogsh*t game feel.

There's also a fan remaster of the CDi games. More responsive gameplay, same goofy animations. I haven't tried it myself, but it's apparently pretty good.

unfortunately that fidelity does not extend to facial rigging for free models

honestly you could manage it if you just took care to never show NPCs in full lighting, or always obscure faces or keep voices off-screen
